They didn't need anything extravagant, they didn't need a fancy dinner. All they wanted was pizza, beer, and their closest family and friends. They chose The Cellar and Loft at Mission Brewery located in Downtown San Diego. The private two leveled space was covered with beautiful brick walls, rustic wood details, and sky lights that illuminated both floors. Deanna and Kat stayed true to who they were and tied in the sweetest Disney Details throughout their wedding. From the succulent holders, to the UP inspired pins and adventure fund jar, they truly made it their own and had the best time with it. They rock, paper, scissored who would say they vows first, they cheered with beers before their official kiss as wife and wife. There wasn't much that was traditional about this wedding and I absolutely loved it. For dinner they hired Dang Brother's Pizza who parked their 1974 American La France firetruck right outside to make and serve wood-fired pizzas right on the spot. After dinner everyone participated in the draw on your head paper plate game then went upstairs to dance the night away with Jenny Katzen of Mix N Hits Entertainment. Jenny took it upon herself to light up the dance floor in beautiful rainbow colors to celebrate this incredible couple and their journey as Mrs and Mrs.

Swooning over all the Disney details!

Best first look reaction!

Custome made Converse shoes for the big day!

Kat & Deanna waited out of sight as guests began to arrive. They got to have this private moment filled with a mix of emotions as they were minutes away from saying their vows.
Rock, paper, scissors to see who would say their vows first!

I've lost count of the number of times I've been back for their pizza..Dang Brother's rule!! The paper plate game! Kat & Deanna played this the night they got engaged and made sure to include it on their wedding day. If you don't know it, a speaker will list items to draw on top of your head without lifting your plate until the very end! Sometimes the list is about 20 items and will build on top of one another!

Love the surprise rainbow setup by Jenny of mixnhits!

Mike & Kristine's Rustic Joshua Tree Wedding Mike and Kristine love the outdoors. They've hiked countless mountain tops, trekked through snow and forests so it only made sense to them to marry in nature. From their wedding rings to the stunning headpiece, bouquets, and center pieces, Mike and Kristine stayed true to who they are and incorporated as many nature inspired details as they could. They chose 29 Palms Inn located just outside of Joshua Tree National Park for the perfect desert retreat. This property was a photographers dream as each bungalow and cabin was uniquely designed with its own character. Kristine and her bridesmaids stayed in Irene's Historic Adobe while Mike and his groomsmen stayed in the Hermitage Cabin. These two spaces were so different yet stayed true to the rustic charm and natural beauty that surrounded them.  After their ceremony at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, we traveled into Joshua Tree for some fun bridal party portraits. They climbed boulders, posed as Joshua Trees and made sure to enjoy the beautiful terrain this national park had to offer. Once I was done with the bridal party, I got to spend some extra time with the newlyweds chasing the gorgeous desert light. While we were gone, Dana with Josefina Events, transformed the lawn area to a beautiful rustic and nature inspired reception site. Farm tables were topped with succulents and desert plants. Market lights and a beautiful crystal chandelier brought just the right amount of light for their intimate reception. Nature made its way into almost every detail this day and I loved every bit of it!

Enchanting Green Gables Wedding - Vicky & Brian Vicky is one of those people who you meet and are instantly drawn to. Her energetic, fun loving personality simply lights up the room and makes you feel like you've known her or years. Each wedding I am lucky enough to get to document is so special but when I get to connect with my couples and build a friendship, I feel even more blessed to get to do what I do.

Green Gables has been a venue that I have been wanting to shoot at for a very long time. Their mixture of rustic vintage decor intertwined with lush gardens and bright twinkle lights make it such an enchanting little gem. It was the perfect venue for Vicky & Brian's whimsical wedding and I couldn't have been happier for them! They spent months planning and designing every little detail from backdrops to wardrobe to even the star of the day, their dog Tofu! The mix of navy and burgundy flowed throughout the entire venue, thanks to the ever so talented Mandy of Ruby Bloom Florals. The day was as romantic as it was fun as they danced the night away to their favorite boy band songs. I've never seen a bride dance as much as Vicky did, not even changing her shoes once I must add! To top the incredible night off, they even brought in Afters Ice Cream as a late night snack! This was definitely one of my favorite weddings to shoot and attend!

Sunset Cliffs Wedding - Adam & Jae Jae came to me with one of the most amazing and touching stories I have heard in my career as a photographer. Jae was in a car accident in 2011 and suffered from mild amnesia. She couldn't remember much of the previous four years but happen to have a ton of photos from being a photography and art student. It wasn't until she started looking through these photographs that helped jog a lot of her memories, memories that if she hadn't had photos of, would have been completely forgotten. Jae truly saw the value in photography and right away I felt such a responsibility to produce the best photos I could for her.

Adam and Jae were married at the beautiful Inn at Sunset Cliffs. The entire day was spent outside along the seaside, laughing and dancing until the moon came up. The bridal party could not have been more attentive, their families could not have been sweeter. The happiness on Jae's face says it all that day. I could not have felt more honored to have been chosen to document such an important day for her and Adam. Thank you Mr & Mrs Gage <3

Jae's maternal grandmother, Estrella G. Diosa or "Grandma Ester," passed away in October 2014. She was a beautiful woman who taught her children and grandchildren to love and cherish all the wonderful moments that you have with family and loved ones. She was very quiet but she was filled with so much joy and shared so much laughter with all of them.

When she passed away, Jae's maternal grandfather, Buenaventura Q. Diosa or "Grampa Ben," gave Ester's ring to Jae and Adam. Ben wanted the ring to stay within his family and passed it along to his oldest granddaughter, Jae. He wanted his wife to be remembered through this heirloom and hopes that it will represent many more years of marital bliss, as it did in the 51 years that he was married to Ester before her untimely death.

Although she wasn't there when Adam and Jae took their vows, she will be with them in their memories and through her beautiful ring.
All florals done by Jae's talented Mother!

Amabelle & Kevin's North Park Engagement North Park was the first of many dates for Kevin and Amabelle so it only came natural that they wanted it to be apart of their engagement session. Having grown up in the neighborhood, I quickly felt at home and was flooded with ideas. We started at North Park Beer Company where, thanks to the incredible staff, we had the space all to ourselves. We loved every little detail from the high ceilings to the industrial feel decor and even the beautiful private mezzanine. After finishing up their beers, we headed over to Holsem Coffee for a more modern and cozy feel. Holsem is a bit newer to the neighborhood but I was instantly drawn to the white marble counter tops, tall open windows, and sleek and contemporary design. Their staff went above and beyond to save us a table and we were able to get some fun shots with their delicious coffees. We then did a quick stop over at Verbatim Books for a more intimate session. The rows of wooden book shelves allowed just the right amount of privacy for Kevin and Amabelle's romance to shine. We then walked over to URBN to pay homage to where it all began for them. The brick walls and mix of metal and wood was the perfect background for these two love birds. Our last stop was none other than Hammonds Gourmet Ice Cream! We were able to beat the lunch crowd and got to enjoy a sweet treat to end our North Park day session.

Special thanks to Courtney at NPBC, Salpi at Holsem, Jess at URBN, and Trang at Hammonds for being so accommodating and going above and beyond in making this engagement session as amazing as it was!

Beautiful backyard wedding - Kelly & Roland Not all weddings have to be at a fancy venue! Kelly and Roland's special day had all the details of an extravagant wedding packed right into her parents' backyard. One of my favorite parts of the day was taking them away for a quick portrait session just down the street. I always urge my couples to take a little time, just two of them, to soak in becoming Mr & Mrs. The lighting was perfect, the park was private, the timing was just right as their coordinators transformed their ceremony site into a beautiful reception. Thank you Kelly and Roland for having me document such an amazing day for you both!

Montana Cielo Wedding - Charles & Danella One of my favorite things about Nella is how she laughs with her entire body. I'm not sure what Charles whispers in her ear but I've never seen such a genuine and quick response in a couple. I've known Charles since High School and when they said they wanted me to document their wedding day, it was an easy yes. Nella is an amazing artist and handmade so many details including the marvel boutonnieres and personalized place cards! This was my first time shooting at Montana Cielo and I definitely hope not the last. The owners were as sweet as can be and were so open to utilizing everything that this beautiful property had to offer. With the mixture of awesome vendors and endless personal touches throughout the entire wedding, this was definitely one for the books! There was no shortage of laughter or tears from this day either, just have a look for yourself!

The Dana on Mission Bay Wedding - Jiaxi & Wei Jiaxi and Wei may be quiet at times but their wedding spoke volumes. Jiaxi's art background made their wedding nothing short of beautiful. From her dress, to her flowers, to the stunning dessert table, Jiaxi had a vision and was able to execute it in the most elegant way. I instantly fell in love with her flowers as they were just the right mix of delicate pastels. Their dessert table was done so exquisitely, I could not stop shooting it. Thanks to their incredible vendors, Michelle with Creststone Events, Nadine with Studio Fleurish, and Peggy with Peggy's Kitchen, these talented ladies went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was picture perfect.

Jen & Scott Orange County Engagement Being a 3rd wheel never felt so great! Jen and Scott were so incredibly natural in front of the camera, it was as if I wasn't even there. Their love is so apparent, so full that it seriously makes me love what I do even more. We started the day at their first date, A La Minute Ice Cream Shop. The window light, the decor, and especially the delicious ice cream was a perfect start to getting to know Scott and Jen. We then headed to Oak Canyon Nature Center which was full of beautiful oak trees and wide open trails to get away from the city life. Our final destination was the infamous Pirate Tower in Laguna Beach's Victoria Beach where as you can see, was nothing short of a romantic ending to an amazing session. Thank you Jen & Scott and all those who helped make this an unforgettable day!

Carmel Mountain Ranch Wedding - Phoebe & Guillermo What can't I say about Phoebe and Will's wedding day. There was so much thought put into every detail that we just had to capture it all! Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club was the perfect mix of elegance and romance. The classic white interiors with wrap around windows and charming gold chandeliers matched seamlessly with every detail. They added vintage furniture and decor to keep with the theme and had everything laid out beautifully thanks to their amazing coordinator Nicole. Even with the change in weather, Nicole and the Country Club team moved the ceremony indoors and worked flawlessly to transform the space to their reception area. Thank you to all the incredible vendors who helped make this day as perfect as it could be. Mount Hood Oregon Wedding - Lexi & Grant I got to visit Portland, Oregon for the first time earlier this year and I fell head over heels <3 .The waterfalls, the greenery, the hiking trails, the mountains, trees....EVERYTHING was just breath taking! I couldn't get this city out of my head and then months later, my good and talented friend Ferdie Morales asked me to help shoot a wedding with him in Mount Hood! My excitement shot through the roof with just the thought of documenting someones wedding day in such a spectacular setting, it was seriously a dream come true. Not only was this venue beautiful but Lexi, Grant, and all their friends and family were incredible to work with. Their love for each other and nature really shined through with this outdoor wedding, and I would not have changed a thing. Lavender Field Engagement - Phoebe & Will Phoebe styled my hair a few years back when I was a bridesmaid for one of my best friend's wedding. That day went by incredibly quick but I felt pretty the whole day lol. Her work was just beautiful and the entire bridal party could not be happier with our makeup thanks to Thuy. Since then, I've recommended Phoebe & Thuy to brides every chance I get and even find excuses to pamper myself when I can. Their skill and passion shine through with all that they do in making us ladies feel extra special! It is such an honor to document the wedding of a fellow artist, I cannot wait for Phoebe & Will's wedding in February!

Monique & Tanaya "Do all weddings here end up in the pool?"

"Not all but the best ones yes"

I met Monique years ago at my families restaurant. We became facebook friends instantly and ever since she found out I did photography, she's been nothing but supportive and really great friend. When she told me about Tanaya, we all knew she had met the woman she was supposed to spend her life with. Together they bring so much love and happiness into this world, I just can't get over how wonderful their day was. They had the entire Pearl Hotel to themselves and boy was it worth it! They were surrounded by their closest friends and family and you know that feeling when the room is just filled with love...this entire day was it! Nicky & I felt so blessed to have been apart of this amazing day...just see for yourself! Great big shout-out to Cynthia and the amazing staff at the Pearl Hotel! Bonnie & Alex Engagement Beautiful light, a stunning couple, and an adventurous location...3 of my favorite things in any shoot! Bonnie & Alex were open to all ideas for their engagement session. We initially wanted the modern lines and architecture at Salk Institute but realized a more dog friendly location would be better. We decided to venture around Julian where Alex had proposed and could not be happier with how the day turned out! With his love of camping and nature, I knew I wanted wide open spaces and tall trees surrounding them so what better location than Lake Cuyamaca! We climbed hills, trekked through bushes, and pulled over on the highway for an amazing day. I can't wait for their wedding in April!

Marie & William Engagement I've always considered my photography style to be more on the photojournalistic side. Usually my favorite images are the ones where couples are looking away from the camera with huge smiles on their faces. Nicky on the other hand is a master when it comes to portraits. She captures the inner beauty of a woman portraying their soft sensual side yet brings out a sexy confidence that all women should be proud of. She has an eye for details and I absolutely love calling her my wedding partner. It's the best of both styles of imagery when its the two of us so keep us in mind for your special day :)

Vivian & Thinh Some of my favorite things to see while working as a wedding photographer is how couples look at each other. There's something so special and rare how one person can look at another and just through their eyes, can convey a world full of love and joy. Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary Joanna & Michael! It's been a whole year since I shot this amazing couple's wedding day! Since I've already blogged about it, I feel the need to take it back to their sexy romantic engagement session!

When I first met Joanna, I asked her to describe their style and she said "rock...romance...whiskey...unconventional." To this day, they are still one of the edgiest couples I have worked with and for that I love them even more. When they suggested an engagement shoot at Polite Provisions, I was all for it! They were so easy to capture with their natural chemistry, we could of closed the place down. But instead we headed over to the Spruce Street Suspension Bridge and ended the evening with some of the most beautiful light of 2014. Enjoy!

Hiro & Peggy's Hawaiian Getaway Back in 2008, I landed a spot in an internship program known as MAIP (Multicultural Advertising Internship Program) and was given the opportunity to spend a summer in NYC. I was hesitant to accept to say the least since I had never been away from home let alone lived by myself before. But with the encouragement (and threats) of family and friends, I made the move that would forever change the course of my life. It was that city, those friends, that really pushed me to pursue photography for more than just a hobby. They are some of the most inspirational, influential, determined, hard working, and adventurous lovers of life I have met and am happy to call them family. Six years later, here we are gathering to celebrate the union of our fellow interns....Congratulations Hiro & Peggy!!

Ha Family Shoot Hetty is one of those people who as soon as you meet her, you will instantly love her. She is filled with so much positivity and has one of the biggest hearts (and smiles) I know. I had the pleasure of shooting her and her family back in June and loved every moment with them. Hetty was such a big help coordinating outfits, bringing her own props and organizing this shoot with everyones schedules. It brings me great joy to give something back to someone who is so kind hearted and generous herself. She even made Holiday cards to send out!

Location: Old Poway Park

can you tell who couldn't sit still and who just wanted to play with love her kiddos!

Colin is one of the most energetic kids I know and capturing this shot made me quite proud ^_^ how cute are her parents?!

Katja & Kirby There's something to say about smaller weddings...that I love them. I love the intimacy of just having close friends and family, the ease of not feeling overwhelmed to meet and greet a ton of people, and to really enjoy the day for what it is, a celebration of your love for one another. Katja said she knew she wanted to meet me when she read that my bio was full of foodie facts and of course when I heard that, I loved her even more! Katja & Kirby had a lovely outdoor ceremony, followed by a romantically delicious dinner at Wine Vault in Little Italy. Did I mention I got to have the incredible 5-course dinner as well ;-)

Peggy & Erwin Most relaxed couple of 2014 goes to Peggy & Erwin! Peggy & Erwin had an intimate Hawaiian wedding earlier in the year and wanted to celebrate with friends and family once back home. I loved every little detail put into their reception. From the soft flowers, to all the beautiful succulents, to the Hawaiian themed table numbers, and lets not forget the jar of pineapple gummy bears!

Joanna & Michael Wedding I cannot to begin to describe how much I enjoyed working with Joanna & Michael. There is something so effortlessly romantic about these two, I could of photographed them for days. Michael doesn't necessarily love having his photo taken but when he's in the presence of Joanna, they bring out the best in each other. Joanna has the style, grace, and best of all one of the biggest hearts I have come across. She had a vision for their wedding and gave herself plenty of DIY projects to keep her busy till the big day. They opted for a smaller, more intimate wedding which made the day all the more special for the beautiful couple. Thank you Joanna, Michael, their incredible family and friends for having me on this amazing day <3
